First developed to replace laboratory glassware by the Nalge Company in 1949 in Rochester, NY, the robust containers had a reputation for leakproof durability. By the 1960s they had found their way into the hands of backpackers and outdoors enthusiasts heading to the Adirondack Mountains. This trend continued until the 1970s where Nalgene Outdoor was born.
