Ernie's Sports Experts Mother's Day Run, Grande Prairie, AB:

Meet in the Middle, Grande Prairie, AB: With a 5 km, 10 km, or a 10 hour (50 km) backyard ultra-style event, there is something for everyone at Meet in the Middle. Put on by the Triple Terrain Trail Trekkers and hosted at the Wapiti Nordic Centre, this is a chance to test your grit against a "backyard" style event. In the 10 hour race, runners do one lap (approx 5.2 km) every hour on the hour. Time in between laps is spent fueling, resting and convincing yourself to just go one more lap!

Vertical Slam Ultimate Challenge, Beaton River Valley, BC: A very challenging but fun trail event that challenges us all! Run, hike, crawl your way through all in the name of racing funds for our local schools food programs there is a 5km, 10km ish, 21km ish course. This year we are trying a reverse on our course! The 10km ish course will be on the half that the 21km usually see on their second half, the 21 km will finish on the original 10km route!

Canadian Death Race, Grande Cache, AB: Since the start of the millennium, racers have come to the Canadian Rockies to cheat Death in one of the world's toughest ultramarathons. The 118km course begins and ends on a 4200-foot plateau, passes over three mountain summits, and not only includes over 17,000 feet of elevation change but a major river crossing at the spectacular Hell's Gate canyon at the confluence of the Smoky and Sulphur Rivers. Each year, extreme athletes push themselves to the limits of their endurance against the breathtaking background of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Well-trained and totally committed, they battle heat, cold, altitude, and their own demons. Finishing is the prize and the bragging rights are priceless.
